Kjetil Jansrud’s dominance of the Super Giant Slalom World Cup continued in Santa Caterina, Italy, as the Norwegian took his third win of the season.
He moves up to 300 points in the World Cup standings, and with the 31-year-old currently sitting second in the downhill standings after two of nine races, he moves up to second in the overall World Cup leaderboard too.
After wins in Val D’Isere and Val Gardena already this winter, the reigning Olympic champion was in no mood to be beaten.
Showing no signs of a Christmas hangover, Jansrud won by 0.6s from Austria’s Hannes Reichelt, with Dominik Paris just a further 0.05s behind in third.
Paris’ podium place was his second of the season in Super-G, after also finishing third in Val D’Isere, showing something close to the form that won him the world championship in 2015.
Jansrud’s compatriot Aleksander Aamodt Kilde made it two Norwegians in the top four, with Germany’s Josef Ferstl completing the top five.
With the first Super-G race of the season in Beaver Creek cancelled because of warm conditions and a lack of snow, there are just three races remaining for someone to try and knock Jansrud from his perch.
And the next opportunity to make up ground on the Norwegian comes in Kitzbuhel on January 20.
