The PyeongChang gold medallist made the perfect start back to life in World Cup competition after she had missed the Val Gardena meet to recuperate after a busy start to the new season.
The 23-year-old battled back from a 0.08seconds deficit in the first run to record a second of 47.55s to leapfrog German speedster Viktoria Rebensburg and claim her sixth win of the season.
Rebensburg grabbed second, finishing 0.14s off Shiffrin's pace, while France's Tessa Worley rounded off the top-three, 0.33s back from the American.
The win saw her gain ground on Italian Federica Brignone at the top of the giant slalom standings, while also increasing her overall lead in the World Cup season.
Shiffrin now holds a 422-point advantage over Ragnhild Mowinckel of Norway, demonstrating her dominance as she added yet another 100-points to her tally to take her up to 789.
