The Nike advert, featuring Colin Kaepernick as the new face of their campaign, has been released on social media and is set to air on American TV during the NFL season opener on Thursday night.

The controversial video, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of the sportswear giant's 'Just Do It' campaign, has been backed by huge stars such as Serena Williams and LeBron James and will be shown during the Atlanta Falcons v Philadelphia Eagles match on NBC.

The campaign has received huge praise on social media for the role Kaepernick, Williams and James have in the video as well as the represenation of athletes from all backgrounds and with varying disabilities.

Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, remains without a team having started to kneel during the national anthem in 2016 to protest against police brutality, social injustice and racial inequality in the USA.

The catchline of the advert is: 'Believe in something. Even it if it means sacrificing everything. Just do it.'

President Donald Trump has been an outspoken critic and slammed Nike saying they are getting 'killed' with anger and boycotts.
