Biles had already announced herself as one of the all-time greats with gold medals in the vault, team all-round and individual all-round, as well as a bronze in the beam.
But she rounded off a magnificent Games with a near flawless performance, full of stunning tumbles which sent her spinning high above the floor.
A huge score of 15.966 gave Biles, 19, the gold, with her American colleague Alexandra Raisman taking silver with a score of 15.500 for her dramatic routine.
Bronze surprisingly went to Great Britain's Amy Tinkler, who scored 14.933 for her performance.
Tinkler, just 16 and the youngest member of Team GB, had to wait nervously for the final score for Italy’s Vanessa Ferrari but confirmation of her 14.766 secured bronze.
Tinkler’s success came after Max Whitlock claimed two gold medals in one night for Great Britain when triumphing on the floor and pommel horse - making Rio a truly remarkable occasion for British gymnastics.
"I honestly don’t have a clue," Tinkler told the BBC. "It's so unreal, I am in total shock.
"I knew I'd done the best routine I could and whatever the score it was good."
