Herrmann races to World Cup glory in Utah
Denise Herrmann showed her pace on the skis as she clinched victory in the women's 10km pursuit World Cup event in Soldier Hollow in Utah.
The German missed two shots on the range but had the speed to make up for it as she finished in 28:03.4.
That was 4.2 seconds clear of compatriot Franziska Hildebrand, who only missed once over the course of the race, but could not take advantage of that to hold on against Herrmann.
Finland's Kaisa Makarainen struggled early on the range, missing two shots early and another later on to finish 16.5 seconds back.
The top trio in the World Cup standings all missed out on a podium, with Lisa Vittozzi sixth allowing her to leapfrog Dorothea Wierer, who was 20th.
Marte Olsbu Roeiseland was fourth, having won the 7.5km sprint on Thursday, and she remains third in the World Cup standings.
