Arnd Peiffer grabbed a gold for Germany at the Biathlon World Championships in Sweden as he prevailed in the men's 20km individual race in impressive style.
The Olympic champion produced a strong performance amid light snow in Ostersund, the first individual triumph for Germany in 20 years.
The 31-year-old took his 14th World Cup medal with a time of 52:42.4, more than a minute ahead of Bulgaria's Vladimir Iliev, who in turn pipped Norway's Tarjei Boe to the silver medal.
On home turf, Sweden's Sebastian Samuelsson took fourth, while one of the favourites – Norway's in-form Johannes Thingnes Boe – finished in ninth.
The last two individual races of the World Cup take place on Sunday, while the single-mixed relay celebrates its World Cup debut on Thursday.
