Francesco Friedrich completed a perfect weekend in Altenberg as he piloted his quartet to a convincing four-man bobsleigh World Cup victory.
Friedrich and brakeman Thorsten Margis had already taken victory in the two-man on Saturday and 24 hours later they were joined by Candy Bauer and Martin Grothkopp for another World Cup win.
The German quartet led by 0.25 seconds after the first run and promptly laid down the fastest time in the second heat to clock a winning total of 1:48.47.
In fact there was no change in the podium from the first run as the Latvian quartet of Oskars Kibermanis, Matiss Miknis, Arvis Vilkaste and Janis Strenga took silver and another German foursome – Nico Walther piloting Paul Krenz, Alexander Rodiger and Eric Franke – came third.
Brad Hall led the British quartet to a 13th-place finish, although they were 12th after the first run, while victory for the Friedrich foursome was their second in a row, having been beaten by Walther and co in the season opener in Winterberg.
Friedrich has a healthy lead atop both World Cup standings – leading Kibermanis by 55 points in the two-man bob and Walther by 35 points in the four-man.
