Germany swept the board at the Bobsleigh World Cup as Olympic bronze medallist Nico Walther secured a landmark victory in the first four-man event of the season.
Walther and crew Paul Krenz, Alexander Roediger and Eric Franke led a home one-two-three in Winterburg, upstaging Olympic champion and BRC Oberbarenburg colleague Francesco Friedrich.
The winning time of 1:48.61 edged them 0.07 seconds in front of double PyeongChang gold medallist Friedrich and crew Jannis Baecker, Martin Grothkopp and Alex Schueller.
The two leading sleds were virtually inseparable on Race One, Walter and Friedrich taking their teams to 54.24 and 54.26 runs respectively.
While Team Walther’s 54.37 in the second and deciding round was bettered by bronze-medallist Johannes Lochner - their chasers could only manage 54.42 and victory followed.
Stuttgart Berchtesgadener speedster Lochner, who missed the two-man season opener in Sigulda last week after injury setbacks, led crew Florian Bauer, Chris Weber and Chris Rasp to third place.
