Jamanka seals first World Cup triumph

Olympic bobsleigh champion Mariama Jamanka continued her outstanding year by clinching a first World Cup gold in Sigulda, Latvia.
German pair Jamanka and rookie Annika Drazek blitzed the field to top the podium at the first World Cup event of the season, securing a total time of 1:42.68 to set a new track record.
Russian duo Nadezhda Sergeeva and Yulia Belomestnykh took silver to secure Sergeeva a first World Cup podium finish of her career.
German pair Anna Koehler and Lisa Sophie Gericke completed the rostrum by finishing just 0.82 seconds behind their compatriots, the overall winners.
The US duo of Elana Meyers Taylor – the Olympic silver medallist from PyeongChang – and her brakewoman Sylvia Hoffmann were disqualified after the first heat after failing to meet the lower weight limit.
