Stephanie Schneider secured her first World Cup victory of the season and her fourth on home soil in the two-woman Bobsleigh with a narrow win in Winterberg.
The 28-year-old, along with brakewomen Ann-Christin Strack, held off Olympic champion and fellow German Mariama Jamanka and brakewoman Annika Drazek by just 0.07s.
Jamanka and Drazek were in the lead following the first run but made a costly mistake, allowing Schneider to win it in a time of 1:53.57.
“It’s a major surprise to take the win. It’s a really good result after Sigulda.
"When the sled is working, we know we can mix it at the front and it’s great that we came out on top,” Schneider said.
World champion Elana Meyers Taylor and brakewoman Lake Kwaza were third, a further hundredth of a second back.
Jamanka leads the overall standings with 435 points from Russia’s Nadezhda Sergeeva (394) and Germany’s Anna Kohler (392).
