The Canadian bobsleigh pilot and his brakeman Neville Wright triumphed in a tense third race of the Olympic season.
Last up on the track after leading from the opening run, Spring could only post the fourth fastest time of the heat but his previous advantage was just enough to see him take gold in 1:44.17 minutes.
Silver went to compatriots Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz, a mere two hundredths of a second behind, as Canada completed a 1-2.
Oskars Melbardis and Daumants Dreiskens of Latvia were third, another seventh hundredths back, while Britons Bradley Hall and Joel Fearon finished 13th having been seventh at the halfway stage.
Kripps now leads the overall standings on 612 points ahead of Spring with 577.
