The Swiss skier wrapped up his latest win by a 1:26 margin from Norway's Martin Sundby – who was fastest on the day – to join Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk in the club for people to have won the Tour four times.
Cologna, who also won in 2009, 2011 and 2012, also surpassed Norwegian Petter Northug in terms of number of podium finishes.
The three-time Olympic champion has been in fine form as PyeongChang 2018 ticks ever closer, and began the final 9km point to point stage with a 1:14 lead over Alexey Poltoranin of Kazakhstan.
The latter fought hard to the end but slipped to fourth overall with Canada's Alex Harvey taking third spot – matching the USA's Jessica Diggins in becoming the first North American to podium in the history of the tour.
