Niskanen powers to 15km win in Otepaa

Iivo Niskanen turned in a magnificent performance to claim a Cross-Country World Cup 15km victory in Otepaa, Estonia.

The Finn, a double Olympic champion, raced away to finish in 40:07.1 for a maiden World Cup win of the 2018-19 season.

Russia's Alexander Bolshunov was Niskanen's nearest challenger on the day and crossed the line for silver 15.9 seconds adrift of the winner.

Didrik Toenseth claimed bronze after edging out fellow Norwegian Martin Johnsrud Sundby for third.
