Canada and Sweden book place in curling play-offs

Canada maintained their unbeaten start at the World Women's Curling Championship in North Bay and qualified for the play-offs with a narrow 8-7 win over Russia.

In an initially tight match, the two teams were tied at 3-3 after five ends before Canada scored three to move clear.
Russia hit back immediately with a three of their own, but Canada had the hammer going into the final end and skip Jennifer Jones secured the 8-7 win.
Sweden also qualified for the play-offs with a 6-4 win over Japan, with nine wins from their ten matches and in second place behind Canada.
Russia remain in fourth place behind South Korea, but the Czech Republic seized the chance to move into fifth with a 9-6 win over Switzerland.
Trailing with two ends to play, the Czechs, with skip Anna Kubeskova, found a three-stone end to pull clear and snatched one in the final end when Switzerland had the hammer.
In the other game of the morning session, Denmark made a two in the final end to win 8-7 over Scotland.
The Danes moved into eighth place, while Scotland look out of it in 11th.
