The best classics riders and sprinters will go head-to-head for the first big one-day showdown of the 2016 season, the Milan-San Remo.
Britain’s Mark Cavendish challenges his rivals in a race that is generally regarded as the first “Spring Classic” of the year. The Manxman is expected to go up against sprint titans John Degenkolb, and Alexander Kristoff.
At 299km, the UCI World Ranking race in Italy is the longest professional one-day race on the tour and riders can expect to be in the saddle for almost seven hours. The typically flat course and long finishing straight tends to favour sprinters with the endurance to last the distance.
Commentary for the event will come from Rob Hatch and former British road race champion Matt Stephens
