Nathan Haas and Diego Ulissi are four seconds behind the leader with one stage to go.
Colombian Alvaro Hodeg claimed victory as stage five of the Tour of Turkey ended in a bunch sprint in Manisa.
The Quick-Step Floors rider finished off some fine work from his team to take victory ahead of John Degenkolb (Trek-Segafredo), with Nathan Haas (Katusha-Alpecin) third and Ireland’s Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) fourth.
Astana’s Alexey Lutsenko maintained his grip on the turquoise jersey by finishing safely in the peloton, while Haas’ bonus points moved him alongside Diego Ulissi at just four seconds behind the leader.
It is the second stage victory of the event for Quick-Step Floors, who lost team leader Fernando Gaviria to a fractured collarbone on stage one.
The Tour of Turkey finishes on Sunday with a 164km stage from Bursa to Istanbul, where another bunch sprint is expected.
