Froome, who is set to race in Italy despite the ongoing salbutamol case hanging over him, is currently competing at the Tour of the Alps.
The Team Sky rider showcased his climbing prowess with two attacks on Stage 2, although he failed to build a commanding lead and eventually settled for fourth.
Still, it was his best performance of the season and hinted that he was coming into form at the right time.

“I had good sensations,” Froome said after the stage.
“I think I’m in a great position considering my main objective for this part of the season is to be ready for the Giro. I think I’m on track for that and I’m happy with how I’m feeling.
“There was a headwind in the finish and as I said, I’m not exactly at my best yet. It’s been a while since I raced so I’m pretty happy with that.”
The ‘Tiger Slam’ references Tiger Woods, who held all four major titles in gold but not in the same season.
Froome won the Tour de France and La Vuelta last year.
He was found to have twice the permissible dose of asthma medication salbutamol during Stage 18 of the latter race, with a verdict not expected until after the Giro.
