As the name would suggest, the race is held in the Italian region of Lombardy. The racing starts in Bergamo and finishes in Como.
What is the route?
The 2018 parcours is similar to the 2015 and 2018 editions, with the variation being a final short but sharp climb to Monte Olimpino before a 3km descent to the line in Como.
Can I watch the race on TV?
Yes. There will be full coverage of the race on Eurosport Player, with coverage also available on Eurosport 1.
What happened last year?
Vincenzo Nibali attacked on the final climb before making a dramatic solo descent to victory in Como.
Who are the favourites?
Nibali will again be among the favourites, but Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe will be keen to put in a strong showing after his disappointing performance at the World Championships. Fellow Frenchman Warren Barguil should not be discounted, while Gianni Moscon showed terrific form at the World's and has the sprint to beat most climbers in the final run-in.
