Coming on the back of the 2016 Olympic Games, La Vuelta is set to be a riveting three weeks. With ten new summit finishes, twelve mountain stages, and the added excitement and possibility that any of the riders may take home the title- last year the race lead changed hands eight times.
With Alberto Contador- the first Spaniard to have won all three major tours, pulling out of the Tour de France at the end of stage 9, he may well be looking to make a comeback, repeat his winning performance of 2014, and leave the world of professional cycling on a high in his final La Vuelta.
Another rider to watch is Tom Dumoulin. Following his success in several stage wins of this year’s Tour de France, and an engaging performance in last year’s La Vuelta, Dumoulin may be hoping for a win this September.
LIVE every morning and evening, Eurosport will bring you “Vuelta Extra” offering pre and post-stage insight and analysis. Presenting the show will be Eurosport’s regular cycling host Ashley House and former Spanish professional road bike racer, Juan Antonio Flecha. Native Spaniard and cycling enthusiast Laura Meseguer will also be on hand to interview the competitors at the start and finish lines. Finally “Vuelta Today” will be broadcast, offering a recap of each days’ events, in case you miss any important developments.
Eurosport, the #HOMEOFCYCLING, will bring you all the action, direct from the roadside, in what looks set to be an unmissable end to the season.
