Orica: That's a wrap for 'Backstage Pass' producer Dan Jones
Orica-Scott's beloved videographer Dan Jones to turn focus towards his growing family after six years behind the lens...
Few people have created as much buzz or viral videos trending on social media sites worldwide as Australian videographer Dan Jones.
Jones has been both the backbone and producer of the uber-popular video series ‘Backstage Pass’ for Australian WorldTour team Orica-Scott for over half a decade.
Following the wrap of the 72nd edition of La Vuelta a España, the team posted the following on its website:
‘Post Dan Life’
It’s safe to say there’s been a few documents and emails circulating in the past weeks with this subject line.
Yes, it’s official, our much-loved videographer Dan Jones is wrapping up a pretty special six years with ORICA-SCOTT today at La Vuelta.
To be honest, some of us close to Dan have known this was coming for a little while now, probably even before Dan was willing to believe it himself. But, regardless, it’s going to take a bit of getting used to for everyone.
Dan was one of the original members of GreenEDGE Cycling and his contribution to the growth of the organisation will never be underestimated. He hasn’t just showcased the personalities of the team to our fans, he has helped create them.
He has also changed the way sports teams give insights to their fans and the media and he’ll be the first to admit he has enjoyed watching other ‘rivals’ come to the party to follow his lead.
But all good things come to an end.
‘Before we are riders, we are humans.’
It is one of the standout lines from our new documentary ‘All For One’ and it stands for staff and the team as a whole just as much as it does for riders.
Dan has had an incredible run, but the last 12 months he will admit have been his finest. He has welcomed a perfect boy William into the world and in just a couple of months will marry his beautiful fiancé Sarah.
It’s family time now.
Dan will not be ‘replaced’, for it is impossible. His influence on the success of BSP and every second of vision created cannot be replicated. This is why it will not continue – after all, Backstage Pass has shined a light on the personalities of our great team, but in fact the most upon Dan’s.
We will continue to push the boundaries in terms of our content and insights for fans in 2018.
Details for this will come in time but today we’re going to enjoy our final day with Dan and celebrate some pretty amazing memories.
