"The demands of the UCI and the main sponsor have made it difficult to continue the agreement," the regional government said.
French financial institution Caisse d'Epargne will continue to support the team, whose riders include Tour de France runner-up Pereiro and highly rated all-rounder Valverde.
Illes Balears are the latest of a string of leading sponsors who have pulled out of cycling in recent seasons.
The regional government of Valencia (Comunitat Valenciana), Liberty Seguros and Phonak have all ended their involvement in the last year.
Discovery Channel, the team for which seven times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong rode, is also reported to be terminating its partnership with cycling at the end of 2007.
Bad publicity from high-profile doping cases, declining television audiences and disagreements between the UCI and leading cycling teams have all contributed to the loss of sponsorship deals.
