Hello and welcome to live coverage of stage 9 of the Tour de France - and it's the big one: the queen stage of this year's race (at least, for many) is this seven-climb 181.5km schlep through the Jura mountains from Nantua to Chambery.

LottoNL-Jumbo's Roglic crests the summit of the Col de la Biche to take 20pts and move into the lead of the polka dot KOM standings in one fell swoop. Vuillermoz takes second place and 15pts ahead of Pinot, who settles for 12pts. That puts the FDJ rider onto 20pts - so he's level with Roglic, but behind him by virtue of the Slovenian having won that HC climb.

Roglic, the Slovenian former ski jumper, has dropped everyone else and soloes clear towards the summit. Her's crashed a fair bit in this Tour - including during the opening ITT for which he was one of the favourites.

There's a response by Primoz Roglic and Thibaut Pinot, who bound clear in pursuit of Rolland, who is caught and passed.

One kilometre until the summit and Ten Dam is still setting the pace - just as Pierre Rolland spices things up with an attack!

Nicolas Edet of Cofidis has been dropped by the break. The Frenchman looks to be really suffering out there. The gap is up to 5:15 so Betancur is very much in yellow for now - although this race will explode once the GC riders go faster than the pace being set by non-climber Luke Rowe, which is what we're seeing for now in the pack.

Problem for Jakob Fuglsang of Astana, who has a front flat. The Dane changes a wheel with team-mate Grivko and is overtaken by German sprinters Greipel and Kittel just as he gets on his way again. That shows that the pace in the pack is not too fast - because the back of the peloton isn't too far away for Fuglsang, and those sprinters are not as far back as you'd expect.

The rain is now coming down like cats and dogs, as Pantano has a problem and drops back to see his mechanic, hanging out the side of the Trek car.

Stybar, who rallied back, has now been dropped by the break. Ten Dam still sets the tempo with the Ag2R-La Mondiale and Cannondale boys just behind. The summit is in 4km and the gap is up to 4:50.

One former yellow/polka dot jersey / disgraced former cyclist / would-be Mexican holiday maker is not so happy with the lack of action on this climb, with regards to the big GC favourites...

The gap stretches out to 4:20 for the break, but numerous riders are already being shelled out the back - including Lotto Soudal's Belgian duo Tim Wellens and Thomas De Gendt.

We should add that "Biche" means female deer in French, while the "Colombe" that inspires "Colombier" is a dove, and "Chat" is a cat. Not that these three HC climbs will feel cute, cuddly of feathery for any of the riders out there today... especially not that man Demare.

If it's been hard for Demare already, then it's going to get even worse with these back-to-back HC climbs. Remember - the Frenchman is already 10+ minutes behind.

Ten Dam sets the tempo on the climb with Ag2R-La Mondiale trio Bakelants, Domont and Vuillermoz right behind. The gap is 3:25 as Team Sky lead the pack onto the start of the climb back in the pack.

The leaders are onto the Cat.HC Col de la Biche (10.5km at 9%). It's being used for the first time in the history of the race, and starts with a brutal kicker of 15%.

The Voeckler group has made contact once again, so we have 39 riders out ahead now, with a gap of 3:30 over the pack. Arnaud Demare is already 10:40 down on the leaders, the French national champion having another shocking day in the saddle.

It's an interesting break, with Romain Bardet having three useful team-mates up the road in Bakelants, Vuillermoz and Domont, who is one of those four chasers. Nairo Quintana has Herrada and Betancur, Alberto Contador has Mollema and Pantano, and Richie Porte has De Marchi and Moinard. So all the GC big guns have riders in play, except Team Sky, who prefer to keep their powder dry and place their riders around Chris Froome in the peloton. A different tactic from yesterday, when Sky has Landa, Henao and Knees in the large 50-man break...

The peloton crests the summit of that climb 3:30 down on the break, which means that man Betancur is in the virtual yellow jersey. Meanwhile, four riders - including Voeckler - try to fight back into the break after being distanced earlier.

Pinot edged up for the sprint near the summit, but it was De Gendt who took the 2pts over the top, with Alexey Lutsenko of Astana just behind for the remaining point. Pinot, who clearly has bigger fish to fry, is happy to let them nuke it out for scraps.
