Adam Yates outpaced world champion Alejandro Valverde to win stage four of the Vuelta a Valencia between Villareal and Alcossebre, his first victory of the season.
The Mitchelton-Scott rider made his move with 400m left on the final climb to Alcossebre before holding off a late charge from Valverde.
Edvald Boasson Hagen loses the overall lead on general classification with Astana's Ion Izagirre taking over yellow after stage four with Valverde seven seconds behind on GC in second place.
it was Brit Yates first victory since the final stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné last year.
