Laugher won an historic first diving gold medal for Britain alongside Chris Mears in the synchronised 3m last week, and the youngster added another honour to his collection in the individual competition.
China’s Cao Yuan was the standout favourite for the competition and made few mistakes as he secured a richly-deserved gold with a whopping 96.90 score with his final dive.
"My prelim was a bit nervy and my semi today was even worse, my worst for four years,” Laugher said after the competition. "But to turn it around, I’m really pleased.
"Once I was in this final I had nothing to lose really, it was all about just concentrating on me. I’ve come away overwhelmed entirely.
"We’re going to celebrate. It’s been a really long season, but to finish it off with a fantastic performance, I’m really pleased.”
