A high-profile official presentation of the Chinese event was held in Hong Kong last week.
A field of 24 cars is expected at Zhuhai, including two diesel prototypes each for Peugeot and Audi. The French carmaker will have two all-French driver line-ups (Bourdais/Pagenaud and Sarrazin/Montagny), while Audi's colours will be defended by four former Le Mans winners (Kritensen/McNish and Capello/Dumas).
The LMGT2 provides the bulk of the grid and five manufacturers will be present in China, namely Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, BMW and Lamborghini. The N°77 Felbermayr-Proton Porsche (Lieb/Lietz) and the N°95 AF Corse Ferrari (Bruni/Vilander) stand out as the favourites.
The list also features a Formula Le Mans entry (Hope PoleVision), an LMP2 prototype (OAK Racing), an LMGT1 car (Saleen Larbre Compétition) and an experimental GT runner (Porsche Hybrid, in the hands of ALMS champs Bergmeister/Long), as well as four LMGTC competitors (one Aston Martin and three Audi R8 LMSs).
