Alexandros Tsouloftas hit back from the disappointment of his retirement on day one of the Cyprus Rally to go fastest across Sunday’s final leg and win the prestigious Golden Stage in the process.
The Cypriot youngster retired from the podium fight on the fourth event of the FIA European Rally Championship season on Saturday following a mechanical failure but restarted on Sunday and demonstrated an impressive turn of speed with the fastest time of all on the final stage.
Along with the PSALTIS AUTOPARTS-backed SS12, the ENEOS-supported SS13 formed the Golden Stage with Tsouloftas winning 2000 euros for posting the quickest combined time. He also landed another 2000 euros as the fastest Cypriot contender.
“We had some bad luck this weekend but we really enjoyed today with all the fans,” said Tsouloftas, who also scored seven ERC bonus points for winning leg two.
