ERC get to know: Rally Islas Canarias’ stages part one

Rally Islas Canarias is next up on the FIA European Rally Championship schedule from 2-4 May. Here’s a guide to leg one's all-asphalt stages.
SS1/4 Valsequillo (10.96km):A longer version of the Valsequillo Qualifying Stage, which measures 3.15 kilometres, the full Valsequillo features a left-right corner close to the start, which should grab the crews’ attention, while the asphalt route is fast and technical.
SS2/5 San Mateo (12.01km):The first few kilometres are new for 2019. From the start in San Mateo the road is narrow, but it soon gets wider and faster as the route takes rally regulars into more familiar territory. A tight-left heading to Cueva Grande near the end of the test could catch out the unwary.
SS3/6 Tejeda (24.10km):The rally’s longest stage, Tejeda is a daunting prospect for both crews and cars. Starting on the demanding Cuevas Caídas road, the new asphalt of Cruz de Tejeda is next before the stage heads to Las Emisoras. After two spectacular junctions, the Monte Gusano road then leads to Fontanales. Long, technical and with changes of rhythm, event organisers predict the stage will present a significant challenge.
SS7/8 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (1.44km):Leg one ends in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where competitors will tackle this short stage twice in quick succession. The compact route should prove a real crowd-pleaser.
