One event on from his first outright stage victory in the FIA European Rally Championship, Filip Mareš will proving his talent again when he samples his ŠKODA Fabia R5 on gravel for the first time in Poland this week.
The ACCR Czech Rally Team driver is in his first season driving a top-level car having graduated from the Pirelli-backed ERC Junior Under 27 Championship.
Now a contender for FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship success after making his debut in the category last month, Mareš will be aiming for a strong showing on PZM Rally Poland alongside co-driver Jan Hloušek.
“I have to admit we are really excited as Poland will be our first gravel rally with an R5 car,” Mareš said. “Unfortunately, we did not manage to finish the Barum Rally due to the accident, but we set some really promising stage times and we believe we have shown our competitiveness on Tarmac.
“After that we are glad and very thankful to the ACCR Czech Rally Team, who trusts us and gives us the chance to face another big challenge in FIA ERC Junior Under 28, this time on gravel.
“For sure we expect a very demanding weekend with high-speed stages, which will be a completely new experience for us. So definitely our task is going to be learn, learn, learn and to show progress during the whole rally. If we will manage this, I am sure the result would be fine.”
