Simon Wagner made an instant impact on his step up to an R5 car with victory on the Perger Mühlstein Rallye in his native Austria yesterday.
Wagner, a podium finisher in the Pirelli-backed FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship, was fastest on all four stages to win by 9.5s on his debut in a ŠKODA Fabia R5. Gerald Winter, also from Austria, co-drove.
Meanwhile, new ERC Junior Experience recruit Erik Cais was the first R2 finisher in P10.
Both drivers will be back in action when Barum Czech Rally Zlín hosts the six event of the FIA European Rally Championship season from 24-26 August.
