Nikolay Gryazin scored the fastest time through Rally Liepāja’s Qualifying Stage amongst his FIA European Rally Championship rivals, leading a quartet of rapid ERC Junior Under 28 stars in R5 cars.
Currently locked in an extremely close ERC Junior U28 title fight, Gryazin beat fellow Junior U28 competitor and ŠKODA Fabia R5 runner Fredrik Åhlin by 0.840s for fastest time, earning him the right to choose his road order position before anyone else this evening.

Behind second placed Åhlin, Gryazin’s nearest title rival Chris Ingram set the third fastest time, 0.981s off the ERC Junior U28 championship in his Toksport WRT-prepared car.

Filip Mareš completed the top four lock-out by ERC Juniors, going fourth quickest aboard his ACCR Czech Rally Team Fabia.

Behind fifth fastest Ford Fiesta R5 pilot Eyvind Brynildsen, the last of three ERC Junior U28 title contenders went sixth fastest, Fabian Kreim 1.962s behind Gryazin for ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland.

Łukasz Habaj (eSky Rally Team), ERC Junior U28 duo Laurent Pellier (PEUGEOT Rally Academy) and Rhys Yates (Kresta Racing), and Orhan Avcioğlu (Toksport WRT) completed the top 10 times.

ERC Junior Under 27 rising star Mattia Vita did not participate in the Qualifying Stage, having damaged his car during Free Practice 1. His car struck a tree, forcing his TRT Junior Rally Team to take his car back to service for repairs.
