Miko Marczyk once again underlined his reputation as one of rallying’s big hopes for the future by taking on and almost beating record-breaking FIA European Rally Championship winner Kajetan Kajetanowicz on Rajd Barbórka last weekend.
Marczyk finished a fine fifth overall and fourth in ERC Junior Under 28 on September’s PZM Rally Poland in a ŠKODA Polska Motorsport Fabia R5.
On Rajd Barbórka last Saturday, Marczyk beat Kajetanowicz on the opening stage, set three top-two stage times and came within 4.18s of winning the famous Warsaw-based event against Kajetanowicz, who had swapped his usual LOTOS Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5 for a World Rally Car version of the M-Sport-developed machine.
Afterwards Kajetanowicz praised his younger compatriot’s performance. “Congratulations to Miko Marczyk, he was very fast and did a great job.”
Marczyk, 23, placed second in the Polish championship standings in 2018 with two wins despite it being his first season in R5 machinery and only his third in rallying.
