FIA European Rally Championship ace Alexey Lukyanuk reckons the only way to be successful on PZM Rally Poland is to go “flat out”.
The Russian Performance Motorsport driver starts the penultimate round of the 2018 ERC season in touching distance of the coveted title.

Ahead of his first visit to the Mikołajki event, Lukyanuk has drawn similarities with the roads he’s experienced on Rally Estonia in the past.

“We know that Rally Poland is quite fast, sandy, like Estonia but more narrow and more tricky,” he said.

“The main challenge is the very high speed – you should be fully committed to your pacenotes and go flat out because when you ease off the throttle it doesn’t work here so it should be really fun to drive. We like such kinds of roads.”

Lukyanuk, who tested his Ford Fiesta R5 in Poland yesterday (Tuesday), has been on top form for the bulk of the ERC season with wins in Azores, Gran Canaria, Italy, plus second place on last month’s Barum Czech Rally Zlín alongside co-driver Alexey Arnautov.
