Alexey Lukyanuk will be making up lost ground when he starts next month’s Rally Islas Canarias, the second event of the 2019 FIA European Rally Championship season.
The reigning ERC champion crashed out on the season-opening Azores Rally – the result of a reported brake issue caused by a puncture that had dropped him out of the lead on the penultimate stage – but is ready to bounce back and cut the 27-point deficit to leader Łukasz Habaj.

Despite his own initial fears that he wouldn’t be able to find the funding needed to rebuild his wrecked Citroën C3 R5, Lukyanuk and co-driver Alexey Arnautvov are entered on Rally Islas Canarias from 2-4 May. They’ve won the event three times in succession.
