Norbert Herczig made it two FIA European Rally Championship podiums in as many events with another impressive rookie performance, this time on the Cyprus Rally.
The four-time Hungarian champion inherited third when Nasser Al-Attiyah suffered a final-stage puncture, despite the MOL Racing Team driver having to nurse a deflation of his own through the closing four kilometres.

“We got a puncture on the last stage,” said Herczig. “But we were still thinking we could take the fourth position. But then after the stage we realised Nasser got a puncture and we reached a better position. We are here and we are really happy.”

Herczig has no previous experience of any events on this year’s ERC calendar but belied that lack of experience by moving into third place in the championship standings.
