Simon Wagner is hoping for better luck next time in the FIA ERC3 Junior Championship after he lost out on a possible category podium on the Azores Rallye.
Wagner was on course to finish in the top four in his Pirelli-equipped Stengg Motorsport Opel ADAM R2 but hit trouble during the closing afternoon.

“It was definitely not the start to the season we wanted,” said the talented Austrian. “There was a big rock in the line just after a crest and no place to avoid, it was just broken suspension. It’s very disappointing as we improved well as a team and still had two more new tyres for the afternoon. That’s rally.”

Wagner could have been higher up the order had he not been forced to drive through SS3 with a right-rear puncture. He also lost ground on Friday’s opening loop with a bent steering arm.
