Zawada, who also took a podium on the Azores Airlines Rallye at the start of April, remains firmly in contention for the 100,000 euros career progression fund on offer to the eventual champion.

Following his third-place finish in Poland, the MSZ Racing Opel ADAM R2 driver said: “A podium finish is always a good finish. I was aiming a bit higher before the event but the rally was extremely difficult. We have given it our all and we’re really pleased. I hope I did a good job for my sponsors and the Polish fans. We had a few problems with the brakes so I couldn’t drive as fast as I would like. Hopefully we can do it again next year.”

After three rounds, Zawada is third in the ERC Junior Under 27 points, 21 behind Chris Ingram.
