'Take note footballers' - GB's hockey women praised for incredible bravery in win over New Zealand

Crista Cullen and Georgie Twigg have been praised for their incredible bravery during Great Britain’s semi-final hockey victory over New Zealand in Rio.
The 30-year-old collided with an elbow and was left with a horrible head injury, which spilt blood on the field and brought the game to a standstill. She was helped off before returning to the pitch, with a simple plaster on her head, to take part in the 3-0 win.
Twigg, meanwhile, was hit by a ball in the face (see below) but also returned to the action later on to seal a place against the Netherlands in the final on Friday.
Incredibly, the incidents didn't seem to affect their play and the team managed to carry on in a tense game.
“To fight for an Olympic medal is what gets us up every morning, let alone to be in a gold medal match," Cullen, who came out of retirement in 2015, told the BBC.
"We are hugely proud of where we have got."
But during, and after, the match, many on social media were simply in awe of the women’s bravery, let alone their win.
