The greatest piece of ice skating in history occurred on Friday in the Audi Cup in China.
Boyang Jin performed a quad lutz followed by a triple toe loop in the men’s short programme, in his first set of jumps in the routine, which is the highest scoring element in history.
The 18-year-old, yes, that’s right, he’s still a teenager, beat Kevin van der Perren’s quad toe loop - triple toe loop - triple toe loop combination at the 2010 World Championships.
However, despite the utterly brilliant jump, which earnt him 19.19 points, China’s Boyang (90.05 points overall) had to settle for second in the competition behind Spain’s Javier Fernandez, who scored 93.19 points.
