The 2004 World Figure Skating Championships will be held in Dortmund from March 22-28. Defending men's and women's champions Evgeni Pluschenko of Russia and American Michelle Kwan will headline the highly anticipated event in Germany's seventh largest cit
Kwan, the most successful figure skater in U.S. history, seeks her sixth world crown. If the 23-year-old wins gold in Dortmund, she would become the second most decorated woman in world figure skating championship history behind Norway's Sonja Henie, who claimed 10 world titles between 1927 and 1936.
Pluschenko, who boasts two brand new programs, aims for his third crown after winning world titles in 2001 and 2003. The Russian, whose short program to Flamenco music promises to be spectacular, is the clear favourite on the men's side while Kwan, as always, is the one to watch in the women's competition.
