The 2019 BMW S1000RR, which has just been unveiled at the Milan motor show, is factory team ERC-BMW Motorrad Endurance’s new weapon. Mathieu Gines gave it a test ride in Italy on the squad’s behalf.
BMW Motorrad has unveiled a brand-new S1000RR with a new engine and a frame that makes for agile handling. The German sport bike comes with 8 bhp more power, 10 kg less weight and an engine with excellent mid-range power delivery.
ERC-BMW Motorrad Endurance rider Mathieu Gines got a chance to test the team’s new steed in Milan. “It’s a real pleasure to see that the bike is pretty much perfect,” he says. “Lots of key issues with load distribution and the engine have been fixed. The electronics are even better than on the previous model, which was already high-performance for our purposes in EWC. I’m really upbeat about this new challenge and I hope we’ll have the bike right from the 24 Heures Motos.”
The German team is to take delivery of the 2019 model in December to start the winter tests. “The aim is to be ready for the 24 Heures Motos,” says the team’s PR Jean-Michel Pfrimmer. “We’ll be shored up by additional involvement on the part of the BMW technical staff, who have already worked on all the performance parts for this new machine.”
