The Japanese team – winner of the 24 Heures Motos – took top spot on the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring provisional grid, ahead of YART Yamaha and GMT94 Yamaha.
Having set the two fastest laps of the day on the Slovakia Ring (a 2:04.217 by Freddy Foray and a 2:04.221 by Alan Techer), rounded off by Josh Hook’s fine performance (2:04.619), F.C.C. TSR Honda France convincingly took the top spot on the provisional starting grid at the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring on the basis of the average best time of the three riders.
On the strength of its 24 Heures Motos win three weeks ago, the Japanese team also currently heads the 2017-2018 FIM EWC provisional standings. F.C.C. TSR Honda France has a slight edge over YART Yamaha, which got a boost from Broc Parkes’s the 3rd-fastest personal lap of the day, a 2:04.312, alongside teammates Marvin Fritz and Max Neukirchner.
A trio of favourites is merely a few tenths of a second behind the duo in the lead. Despite Niccolò Canepa’s injury, sustained during free practice, GMT94 Yamaha wrested 3rd place on the provisional grid, just ahead of Team SRC Kawasaki and Suzuki Endurance Racing Team.
NRT48’s BMW is in 6th place, ahead of Honda Endurance Racing (thrown off kilter towards the tail end of the session by Erwan Nigon’s crash), Mercury Racing and Team April Moto Motors Events.
The first Superstock is in 10th place. Moto Ain (Yamaha) got the better of Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences and Atomic 68 (Suzuki) in this class.
The night test gets underway at 7.30pm, with second qualifying to follow at 10.30am tomorrow (Friday).
