Moto Ain CRT is keen for another crack at the FIM EWC Superstock World Cup. The team has confirmed that Alexis Masbou will be back on the Yamaha R1 #96 this season, together with Christoffer Bergman.
Moto Ain CRT is one of the front runners in the Superstock class. The private French team has set its sights firmly on the FIM EWC World Cup, and manager Pierre Chapuis is shuffling the line-up with a view to ensuring his riders are in the lead at every race.
After looking like a dead cert to win the Superstock World Cup last season, Moto Ain CRT missed out by just one point at the Slovakia Ring. This season also got off to a rocky start, with the team forced to withdraw at the Bol d’Or in September.
This setback has done nothing to deter them from their ambitions. Moto Ain CRT will be starting its 2018 podium chase with a beefed-up team. Alexis Masbou is back, for starters. The Frenchman, a former Moto3 rider, helped Moto Ain CRT clinch the Superstock win at the 2016 Bol d’Or.
Masbou will be teaming up with Swedish rider Christoffer Bergman. After signing up to compete in the Supersport FIM world championship, Bergman rode the R1 #96 at the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring in 2017. He got Moto Ain CRT to pole position in Superstock. But he crashed out and the team missed the Superstock World Cup by a whisker.
Pierre Chapuis is putting the final touches to the line-up. He has already said he is recruiting a world-class rider to round off his trio at the 24 Heures Motos.
