Yet another GP champion has ventured into the FIM EWC. Nico Terol, the 125cc class world champion in 2011, will be on the grid at the 24 Heures Motos for Italian team SC-Project Paton Reparto Corse.
Nico Terol is set to make his maiden Endurance outing. After becoming the 125cc class world champion in 2011, just ahead of Johann Zarco, Nico Terol went on to compete in Moto2 as well as the FIM Superbike and Supersport world championships. The Spanish rider will be in the saddle of SC-Project Paton Reparto Corse’s Honda CBR 1000 RR Superstock #57 at Le Mans.
The Italian squad’s rider line-up also includes Matteo Baiocco, the Italian Superbike champion in 2011, 2012 and 2016 and a worthy contender in the FIM Superbike world championship (he placed 9th in 2015), and his fellow Italian Simone Saltarelli, who notched up experience in the FIM EWC with No Limits Motor Team from 2010 to 2012.
Spaniard Ricardo Saseta, who has also previously tested the Endurance waters, will be the back-up rider.
This Superstock team will be worth keeping an eye on.
