SRC Kawasaki France takes over lead

The order established on Saturday evening was shaken up in the course of the night. Team SRC Kawasaki France took back the lead and has since put three laps between itself and its rivals. Randy de Puniet, Jérémy Guarnoni and David Checa are continuing their efforts to keep Suzuki Endurance Racing Team at bay.

After seizing the lead towards the end of the day on Saturday, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team lost ground because of a damaged footrest plate followed by a crash. Vincent Philippe, Etienne Masson and Gregg Black pushed hard to climb back up to 2nd place.

To do so, they had to battle two privateer teams hell-bent on a podium finish: Yamaha Wepol Racing (Daniel Webb, Mathieu Lagrive and Sheridan Morais) and Kawasaki-mounted Bolliger Team Switzerland (Roman Stamm, Sébastien Suchet and Jonathan Hugot). Both teams are solidly anchored in the leading pack, in 3rd and 4th place respectively 16 hours into the race, and continuing to hold out against F.C.C. TSR Honda France. The reigning world champion is lapping in 5th place this morning after dropping back last evening because of an electrical problem.

Currently in 6th place, YART Yamaha also had a long, hard climb back up following   Niccolò Canepa’s crash after the bike developed an oil leak.

Two of the factory teams are missing from the roster: Honda Endurance Racing, held up by engine problems, and BMW Motorrad Endurance, who had to withdraw after a crash in the early stages of the race.

Gert56 still leading Superstock classGert56 remains in top spot among the Superstock teams. The German squad has so far turned in a clockwork performance and is currently lapping 7th ahead of Yamaha Viltaïs Pierret Experiences, who have moved up into EWC this season. Webike Tati Team Trick Star, last season’s winner of the Superstock World Cup, is the 2nd-place Superstock on the track, in 9th position ahead of SET Racing (Yamaha EWC), a Swedish team making its FIM EWC debut.

Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki, a contender for the Superstock podium, slid down the rankings during the night following a crash.
