YART Yamaha seizes control

Teams are settling into their positions three hours into the race on this warm sunny day in Slovakia. YART Yamaha expressed concerns about an electronics issue, but has managed to installed itself in the lead after a keenly fought 1 hr 30-minute battle.

The Austrian Yamaha is lapping ahead of French counterpart GMT94 Yamaha and F.C.C. TSR Honda France. Honda Endurance Racing, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, NRT48 (BMW), Team SRC Kawasaki, Mercury Racing (BMW), Team Bolliger Switzerland and Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki currently round off the Top 10.

Gregg Black got a superb holeshot for Suzuki Endurance Racing Team, then immediately began a fight for the lead with Honda Endurance Racing’s Gregory Leblanc and Team SRC Kawasaki’s Randy de Puniet, who crashed 15 minutes into the race.

The first hour was particularly eventful, with Roberto Rolfo on the Yamaha Moto Ain, a contender for the Superstock win, crashing only a few laps in, followed by Randy de Puniet’s spill.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Endurance Racing Team got delayed by a stop-and-go penalty because of a missing tyre marking in qualifying yesterday (20 tyre stickers are allotted in EWC and 13 in the Superstock class for an 8-hour race).

Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki currently leads the Superstock class in 10th place ahead of Tati Team Beaujolais Racing, Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences and Atomic 68.
