Jordi Alba has likened beating Real Madrid in El Clasico to winning the Champions League.
The left-back played a key part in the 5-1 demolition of their bitter rivals on Sunday, which puts Julen Lopetegui's side ninth in La Liga, seven points behind the Catalan team, who sit top.
And Alba revealed a Clasico win has a different feel to normal victories.
"It's a special game for all [the Barca fans] and I've been here since I was little, for that (Clasicos) are very special games for me," he said.
It's not as important as winning a Champions League bit that's how it feels to me. For [the fans] it's very important to beat Real Madrid.
The left-back set up Philippe Coutinho and celebrated it more than the Brazilian. "Sometimes I enjoy giving assists more than scoring goals," he added.
And, with Lopetegui also reportedly on the cusp of the sack, he also praised the tactics - and faith - of his own manager, Ernesto Valverde.
"We found space, we tried to combine in the centre to end up opening up the flanks and I think we did a lot of damage."
"I'm in a great moment of form. I feel a huge confidence in me from the coaches, my team-mates and the fans."
