Manchester City maintained their 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a routine 3-1 victory over Newcastle.
A new manager won his first match in charge, another lost his job and a profilic goalscorer continued his red-hot form on a weekend of remembrance for a former England striker.
Here, Press Association Sport takes a look at what we learned from this weekend’s top-flight fixtures.

Premier League clubs paid tribute to former England forward Cyrille Regis, who died at the age of 59 last weekend.
Regis was most remembered for playing for West Brom and Coventry, where he won the FA Cup in 1987 with latter, and clubs up and down the country paid their respects with a minute’s applause before kick off while players wore black armbands.
Fans and pundits credit Regis for breaking down barriers for black players in English football, where he made 614 league appearances and scored 158 league goals in a 19-year playing career.

It was a case of another day, another goal for Tottenham forward Harry Kane as he extended his incredible record of 33 goals in 33 matches in all competitions for club and country this season.
Kane headed home the equaliser at Southampton to move to 99 Premier League goals in his career as his side were held to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.
The 24-year-old continues to impress, who broke Alan Shearer’s record of most Premier League goals in a calendar year in 2017 and most recently became Spurs’ most prolific goalscorer in the Premier League, as he aims to join the 100-club at Tottenham.

Another one bites the dust at Watford

Marco Silva became the eighth Premier League manager to lose his job this season after Watford sacked the Portuguese on Sunday morning.
The Hornets explained the decision to dismiss the 40-year-old due to an “unwarranted approach” from Everton.
Silva had been a target for the Toffees earlier in the campaign after an excellent start, but a run of one win in 11 matches saw his eight-month spell come to an abrupt end.
Watford hired Javi Gracia as his replacement on Sunday evening on an 18-month contract to become the club’s 10th manager in seven years.

Arsenal need Ozil more than Sanchez

The Gunners have been under heavy scrutiny over recent weeks as star men Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil reached the final six months of their contracts.
Sanchez is set to move from north London to Manchester United in a straight swap deal for Armenian Henrikh Mhkitaryan, but Ozil will remain at the Emirates Stadium and fans are hoping that he will put pen to paper on a new deal in the near future after an impressive display against Crystal Palace.
The German international linked up superbly with Jack Wilshere and Alexandre Lacazette throughout the match and continued to dissect the Eagles defence with neat touches and eye-of-the-needle through-balls, including a deft touch to set up Arsenal’s fourth goal.
With Ozil in majestic form and Arsenal’s array of attacking talent, the 29-year-old’s eye for a pass is more valuable than Sanchez’s hard-working mantra at the moment.

Lambert inspires Stoke back to winning ways

Paul Lambert enjoyed the perfect start to his reign as Stoke boss with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday.
The Scot was a surprise candidate to take over from Mark Hughes after the Welshman’s five-and-a-half year spell in charge at the bet365 Stadium came to an end following the Potters embarrassing early exit in the FA Cup at Sky Bet League Two side Coventry earlier this month.
However, goals from Joe Allen and Mame Biram Diouf gave Stoke a much-needed three points and lifted them out of the relegation zone as Lambert looks to build on their first Premier League win in six matches.
