ALGERIA win Afcon! FT: Senegal 0-1 Algeria. Bounedjah's deflected second minute strike secures a first title since 1990 for Les Verts and only their second ever.
Blocked! And that's it!
- Yellow cardAdlène GuédiouraAlgeria
Guedioura booked. Free kick to Senegal 25 yards out.
- Yellow cardAïssa MandiAlgeria
Four minutes added.
It's looking like a first title for Algeria since 1990. Senegal are still pushing. Can they carve out one last opening?
- OffBaghdad BounedjahAlgeria
- OnIslam SlimaniAlgeria
ALGERIA CHANGE: Bounedjah off, Slimani on.
Diatta lines up the free kick with plenty of bodies in the box - but then hammers it over the bar. What a waste.
Balde hacked down as he looked to jink to the left byline. Another free kick to Senegal in a good position.
- OffM'Baye NiangSenegal
- OnKeita BaldéSenegal
SENEGAL CHANGE: Balde on, Niang off.
- OffSofiane FeghouliAlgeria
- OnMehdi Jean-TahratAlgeria
ALGERIA CHANGE: Feghouli off, Tahrat on.
- OffYoucef BelailiAlgeria
- OnYacine BrahimiAlgeria
ALGERIA CHANGE: Brahimi on, Belaili off.
CLOSE! Algeria fail to deal with a cross from the left, but Sarr flashes a 15-yard volley over the bar.
Time ticking down quickly for Senegal. Is their dream of a maiden title going to end in misery?
- Yellow cardLamine GassamaSenegal
- Yellow cardIdrissa GueyeSenegal
Benlamri is back on for Algeria, but is then told to get off again! Bizarre scenes.
Senegal look to make the most of the one-man advantage, but Mane can't get his shot beyond a last-ditch block after wriggling past his first marker.
Play halted after a clash of heads between Mane and Benlamri. The Algeria defender has a nasty cut and will need treatment.
- OffHenri SaivetSenegal
- OnMbaye DiagneSenegal
SENEGAL CHANGE: Diagne on for Saivet.
Gomis beats away a swerving delivery following a succession of Algeria corners and Senegal eventually complete the clearance. That's more like it from Les Verts.
Mahrez whips a right-wing free kick into a dangerous area at the heart of the Senegal defence, but the Teranga Lions do enough to get it to safety.
Sabaly has a pop from 25 yards but sees his thumping drive tipped over by M'bolhi.
It's not been a great tournament for Niang and that pretty much sums it up for him.
Niang races onto a raking through pass, takes it beyond the keeper but then fails to find the target from a narrowing angle on the right.
Senegal still pushing. Algeria have rarely attacked in this half, or indeed, in the match.
Disappointment for Senegal, but that's what VAR is for. It was a harsh penalty award and on second viewing, the referee admits the defender's hands were not raised.
No penalty! The referee has overturned his initial decision after watching the video replays. Adlene Guedioura's hands did look by his sides.
The referee has now been told to look at it again by VAR.
PENALTY TO SENEGAL! Guedioura penalised for hand ball as he looked to defend a cross from the right.
- OffPapa Alioune N'DiayeSenegal
- OnKrépin DiattaSenegal
SENEGAL CHANGE: Ndiaye off, Diatta on.
Mane spins his man on the left side of the box, but sees his cross-shot blocked away by Benlamri. The Liverpool man loses his boot in the process. More frustration for Senegal.
Saivet curves a left-wing delivery towards Kouyate, but the no-one in a Senegal shirt can get on the end of it. It was a good ball too.
It says a lot about the way the match has gone when Mahrez's biggest contributions have come via his defensive work.
- Yellow cardYoucef BelailiAlgeria
Mane and Mahrez have both been rather peripheral so far. It's not been a game for the flair players.
Mane gets a chance to turn and race at the Algeria defence. He feeds it wide to Niang, who is too clumsy as he tries to turn back inside and cross. Algeria pinch it back and Mane is left frustrated in the box.
The cross is half cleared to the right flank. Mahrez picks it up and takes on two but sees his attempted delivery blocked to safety.
Free kick to Algeria on the far left.
Senegal need to make more impact in the attacking third if they are to keep their hopes of a maiden title alive. Will they move it up a gear and how long before Cisse turns to his bench?
- 2nd Half
KICK OFF! Senegal restart the contest.
- End of 1st Half
HT: Senegal 0-1 Algeria. Baghdad Bounedjah's heavily deflected strike on two minutes separates the sides at the break.
Good feet from Sane in the opposing penalty area, but the Senegal defender sees his 20-yard strike deflect over. The resulting corner comes to nothing.
Two minutes added as Zeffane just about pips Sarr to a first-time pass in-behind the Algeria defence.
In truth, it's been a rather dull football match so far. Not that any Algerians will care if the scoreline stays the same for the rest of the final.
Senegal have had 62 per cent of the possession but have managed just three shots so far. Algeria have one goal from one shot.
Some handbags prior to that Senegal corner a few moments earlier.
CLOSE! M'Baye Niang allows a pass from the right roll across his body before letting fly with a stunning 25-yard effort that curves inches over the top.
No danger for Algeria. The corner is easily headed to safety. Djamel Belmadi will be delighted his side have the lead, but would no doubt want to see more of the likes of Mahrez in the attacking third. Indeed, Algeria haven't really offered much since the goal.
Another set piece for Senegal. This time it's a left-wing corner. You sense the Teranga Lions could pose a real threat from this sort of situation if they can get the delivery right....
- Yellow cardRami BensebainiAlgeria
Bensebaini booked for a lunging tackle on Sarr.
Kouyate seemed badly winded by that knock, but should be okay to continue after some treatment. Senegal can't afford to lose any more players from their defensive unit.
Kouyate races across to clear a stray ball out of play on the right. He's caught by Bennacer on a clumsy follow-through. The Senegal man is down in a bit of pain while the Algerian pleads his innocence.
Safety must always be the main consideration.
Saivet goes for goal and sees a low, bouncing effort easily dealt with by Rais M'bolhi.
Mane looking to make something happen. He wriggles past two but is adjudged to have been tumbled by the third. Free kick to Senegal 35 yards out, left of centre.
Aliou Cisse is prowling the touchline. He's got arms folded and looks relatively calm.
Have to say, I did wonder about the keeper's lack of effort to scramble back for that ball. He was completely rooted to the spot!
Senegal probing without really truly causing much threat to that Algerian rearguard.
Ndiaye powers through the midfield from deep and feeds Mane deep in Algeria territory. The Liverpool man immediately touches it to the left for the overlapping run, but is frustrated when the cross back towards him in the middle, is easily cut out.
VIDEO: Algeria strike first!
Senegal taking an age over a free kick on the right. Henri Saivet eventually floats it into the mix and Kuyate guides a tame header well wide.
DID YOU KNOW? This is only the fifth Africa Cup of Nations final to have two African head coaches - and the first since 1998.
STAT: Bounedjah becomes only the third player to score in the 2nd minute of play in an African Cup of Nations final after Ad-Diba against Ethiopia on February 16, 1957 and Segun Odegbami against Algeria on March 22, 1980.
Senegal just haven't got going yet. The goal has obviously helped Algeria settle faster.
The high delivery from the free kick is defended rather nervously by Senegal. It is miscued by Kouyaté, but no one can take advantage for Les Verts.
Free kick to Algeria in a central position midway inside the Senegal half.
That's a tough one for Sane. He was injured early in the tournament and only came back tonight in place of defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in the semi-final win over Tunisia.
That's Bounedjah's second of the tournament.
- GoalBaghdad BounedjahAlgeria
GOAL! Algeria are off to a flyer. Baghdad Bounedjah spins his man on the left, cuts inside and fires in a 25-yard shot that loops off Salif Sané and drops into the far corner. What a horrible deflection!
- 1st Half
KICK OFF! Senegal get the 2019 Afcon final underway.
Time for the national anthems!
So, will it be a first ever Afcon title for Senegal or will Algeria lift their second, 29 years on from their maiden triumph? We are about to find out!
These fans have been in the stadium a while now. Not long to wait from here!
Algeria boss Djamel Belmadi: "To the Algerian people, I want to say: I'm not a politician, not a miracle worker or a wizard. But we will fight like we have fought to this point."
Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse: “Senegal always had great talents, but I think this generation is the best. We played in the World Cup after a long absence, and we are in the Afcon final too. What changed is the mental strength of our players that helps them in games of this magnitude. 17 years is a very long time since we were last in the final, most of my players were very young then. We suffered a lot since then and this generation now wants to achieve more. The game is going to be tough but we want to make our people happy.”
Mane has recently spoken of how he'd swap his Champions League winner's medal for success at Afcon with Senegal. He may not have to think that way if all goes well for him and his nation tonight. I got a flavour of just what it would mean to him to triumph with his country when I sat down with him for a chat for World Soccer magazine at the start of the year.
VIDEO: Best goals so far - Salah, Mahrez and more!
QUIZ: Can you name every winner of the Africa Cup of Nations?
CONFIRMED TEAMS - SENEGAL: Gomis, Sane, Kouyate, Sabaly, Gassama, Gueye, Saivet, Ndiaye, Niang, Mane, Sarr. /// ALGERIA: M'Bolhi, Mandi, Benlamri, Zeffane, Bensebaini, Mahrez, Feghouli, Guedioura, Bennacer, Belaili, Bounedjah.
It's not as simple as Liverpool's Sadio Mane against Man City's Riyad Mahrez. That's a major focus, but there is so much more to this battle. Read on to get the low down.
Of course, the sides met in the group stage where Algeria ran out convincing 1-0 winners. Will it be a repeat of that or can Senegal find their best form when it matters most?
Hello and welcome to LIVE updates of the 2019 AFCON final. It's Senegal versus Algeria and it all kicks off at 8pm BST.
