Ballon d'Or 2022: Full shortlists with Karim Benzema and Beth Mead both in the hunt for awards

The nominations are in for the Ballon d'Or awards, with the likes of Karim Benzema, Alexia Putellas, Alisson Becker and Jude Bellingham in contention for their respective awards. Putellas was the Ballon d'Or Feminin last year but faces competition from England stars Beth Mead, Lucy Bronze and and Millie Bright who rewarded for helping the Lionesses win the Women's Euros.

The shortlists are out for the Ballon d’Or awards, with Karim Benzema hot favourite for the men’s gong and England star Beth Mead in the hunt for the women’s prize.
The awards ceremony takes place in Paris on October 17 and is sure to be a glittering affair.
It could also represent a changing of the guard as Lionel Messi was not named on the shortlist, after winning it on seven previous occasions.
There was no place on the men’s shortlist for Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Neymar.
Robert Lewandowski was controversially beaten to the award by Messi last term, but has a chance to get his hands on the prize this time around - albeit Real Madrid man Benzema is hot favourite to plunder the award after winning La Liga and the Champions League.
On the Ballon d’Or Feminin list are three members of England’s winning Women’s Euros side: Millie Bright, Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead.
Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka are in the hunt for the Kopa Trophy for best player under the age of 21.
Four Premier League goalkeepers in Edouard Mendy, Ederson, Alisson and Hugo Lloris are in the hunt for the Yachine Trophy.
