Bayern Munich dominate Borussia Dortmund to ease to Klassiker win
Bundesliga, Signal Iduna Park - Borussia Dortmund 1 (Bartra 88), Bayern Munich 3 (Robben 17, Lewandowski 37, Alaba 67)
Bayern Munich moved six points clear of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga table with a 3-1 victory in Der Klassiker at Signal Iduna Park.
Arjen Robben, Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba were all on target as Bayern made it seven wins from seven since Jupp Heynckes returned to take charge. Dortmund, for whom Marc Bartra scored a late consolation, have now failed to win any of their previous four games in the division and have dropped to third in the table.

In this fixture last year it was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's early effort that proved to be the difference and he honed in on goal around the same time here only for Niklas Sule to intervene.
Bayern scored with their first attack as captain Robben produced a typical finish in the 16th minute. Thiago's pass into the box was chested down by James Rodriguez and he fed back to Robben, who let the ball run on to his left foot and curled past Roman Burki.
Dortmund continued to attack in numbers as they looked for a reply and Andriy Yarmolenko had a one-on-one opportunity that Sven Ulreich denied, while Shinji Kagawa's deflected attempt grazed the post of a post. Burki had already pushed one Lewandowski attempt over the top and the Pole would not be denied again when the next opportunity came his way.
Joshua Kimmich, in the team despite concerns over a stomach bug, delivered a low cross from the right that Lewandowski flicked with his right instep and the ball kicked up off Julian Weigl to leave Burki with no chance. It was his ninth goal against his old team since he left them to join Bayern in 2014 and his 20th in 21 appearances for club and country this term.
Another Yarmolenko try, once again on his unfavoured right foot, found Ulreich between his attempt and the goal as Bayern entered the break 2-0 up. The hosts were fortunate Lewandowski did not punish them again just after the restart with a free header from a Robben cross that Burki turned away with his foot, with Dortmund's high-pressing style continuing to leave them open.

They should have pulled one way back when the bright Christian Pulisic breezed into the box on the left, yet Yarmolenko and Aubameyang got in each other's way and neither was able to apply the simple finish required.
Lewandowski spurned another chance, chipping wide when released by Robben, but Bayern would increase their advantage to three goals with 23 minutes to go.
Alaba's cross was intended for Lewandowski but he did not actually touch it en route to the back of the back, with Burki only able to help it on its way.
Aubameyang was thwarted by Ulreich again before Dortmund threw on English teenager Jadon Sancho for a late cameo, and he was on the pitch when Bartra pulled one back with two minutes remaining.
